1. What the app does with your writing

Nothing leaves your computer. The grammar engine, the correction model and the dictionaries are all installed on your machine as part of the app. When you check a document, everything happens locally. We cannot see your documents, and neither can anybody else.

The app keeps three things on your own computer, and nowhere else:

• Your personal dictionary — words you have told it to accept.
• Your style guide — words your team prefers or forbids.
• Your licence, if you have bought the ad-free version.

These sit in your Windows user folder. You can delete them at any time by uninstalling the app. If you have Windows set to back up app data to OneDrive, they may be included in that backup — that is a Windows setting you control.

2. Adverts

The app is free, and adverts are what pay for it. There are two in the panel on the right, and an offer to remove them when a corrected file is saved.

Advert providers usually receive some information from the device showing the advert — typically an advertising identifier, an approximate location derived from the internet connection, and the fact that an advert was shown. They never receive your documents or anything you have written.

Windows lets you limit this. To turn off the advertising identifier:

1. Press the Windows key, type privacy settings, and press Enter.
2. Choose General.
3. Turn off Let apps show me personalised ads by using my advertising ID.

The app respects that setting. You will still see adverts, but they will not be based on an advertising profile. If you would rather see no adverts at all, you can buy the ad-free version, which removes them permanently on that computer.

No advert provider has been chosen yet. When one is, this section will name them and link to their own privacy policy, and this page will be updated before any advert is shown.

3. Buying the ad-free version

If you buy through the Microsoft Store, Microsoft handles the payment. We never see your card details or your billing address. Microsoft tells us that a purchase happened; what they share with us is governed by their own privacy statement.

If you buy a licence directly, the licence itself contains only the name it was issued to and the date. It is checked on your own computer.

4. Reporting a problem

If you report a suggestion that seemed wrong or inappropriate, the app opens your own email program with the address filled in. Nothing is attached automatically and nothing is sent on its own. You write the message and you send it, so you decide exactly what we see. If you email us, we keep that message so we can reply and fix the problem.

5. Children

Pikivie Proof is a writing tool for general use. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

6. Your rights

Because we hold almost nothing, there is usually nothing to ask for. If you have emailed us, you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to admin@pikivie.com and we will act on it.

7. Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes and the new version appears here. If a change materially affects what leaves your computer — for example when an advert provider is added — we will say so in the app before it takes effect.
